Orphans are the most vulnerable people group to modern-day slavery.

What Will Happen to Me?

Sometimes it only takes an instant for a destiny to be framed….

For Panee, a 14-year-old orphan living in Thailand, one moment and one question changed her life forever. Her desperate plea of “Take me with you!” made to American missionaries as they were leaving her poverty-stricken village was followed with the piercing question, “What will happen to me?”. The missionaries could not turn away from such a bold and heart-wrenching question.

The missionaries agreed to support her financially and she was accepted into House Of Faith Orphanage in May 2008. She became a star high school student (GPA 3.5) and she spiritually flourished in the church as a student leader. However, months before her high school graduation, Panee began to ask the same question, “What will happen to me”? Unless an alternative was provided, her fate would be to return to the dirt floor huts of her village where poverty, drug abuse and the real threat of sex trafficking awaited.

President Herbert Hoover said, “Children are our greatest natural resource.” To invest thousands of dollars and countless hours of care into each orphaned child without preparing them for the next step in their life is to throw away an incredibly costly investment. What a loss for society, as we could very well be turning our backs on the next generation’s greatest business leaders, teachers, doctors, and innovators. What an even greater loss to the kingdom of God – we may be losing the future’s best leaders and ministers simply because we failed to prepare them for what’s next. We want to move young men and women forward into their future by giving them all the necessary tools that they need to be successful. We’re doing that through Forward Housing at Dream Central Bangkok.Panee’s plea for help was the start in 2014 of Forward Housing for Orphans. A five-story business building was renovated to house student orphans, a trendy coffee shop called YY Café, a smart hub, and a music studio. The story of ONE is becoming the story of MANY. Presently, three girls and two boys have followed Panee to Forward Housing where they are provided housing, a part-time job with YY Café, a community of believers in a faith-based church, supervision, and an opportunity to attend a vocational school, college or university to pursue a degree of their choosing. Zechariah 4:10 (NLT) “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…”

The work has begun and great treasures are at stake. Forward Housing ensures previous investments made in orphans in our Church of God orphanages are not lost following their required departure from orphanages after high school. We request your financial assistance in making the dreams of such orphans continue to come true. Church of God World Missions has granted Forward Housing Bangkok the project number 132-9311.

They have three children who are now second generation believers in Christ whom all make their home in Bangkok.

Janice Montrelerdrasme is a visionary that has watched God fulfill a dream of her heart. On May 5, 2014, this young woman born to missionary parents in Thailand had a vision while praying with her mother and others. She saw a picture of herself serving in a cafe called YY Café.  It was packed full of people. She explained to her customers that “YY” is named after her Chinese name, YanYin, which means a language of joy and happiness. Janice described her vision for YY Café: “This is the place where people would come in and have exceeding joy. Its mission is about the people.”  Janice now mentors the students of Forward Housing and offers them on the job training at YY Café.

Janice graduated from Lee University in May 2006 with a Bachelor Degree in Telecommunications and from Oxford Graduate School in 2012 with a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership. After completing her Bachelor’s Degree at Lee, Janice returned to her hometown in Bangkok and worked in Thailand’s World Vision Foundation Marketing Department. She believes that all things are beautiful in His time, and she is amazed that God is fulfilling this dream before her very eyes.
